Myth & Nature
Vanishing glaciers and diminishing wildlife signify an unstable world heralding devastating global human impacts. This series explores Nature-based narratives within the greater context of global climate change. My illustrations are influenced by late 19th century Golden Age of Illustration artists such as John Albert Bauer, Arthur Rackham, Kay Nielsen, and William T. Maud who worked with Scandinavian folktales. I am inspired by Nature themes within Norse mythology, working with concepts of fate and reverence of the seasons - issues I feel are relevant to today's environmental challenges.
